Work with us

Teach, lead and grow at Oban Institute

We're always interested in meeting qualified trainers, assessors and advisors who share our commitment to honest, student-centred vocational education. Small team, real influence, modern curriculum.

What you get here

Three reasons trainers stay

We won't pretend the pay is better than big TAFE. We will tell you the working conditions and the integrity of the work are.

A student-first team

We measure ourselves by learner outcomes, not throughput. You'll work alongside trainers who know every student by name — and make time to answer their emails.

  • Small cohorts (10–25 learners) so every voice is heard
  • Named student advisors, not call-centre scripts
  • Academic, LLN and pastoral support built into every role
  • No 'sales KPI' — we only enrol learners we can genuinely help

Modern curriculum

You'll help shape training products that are current, practical, and respected by Australian employers — not recycled slides from a decade ago.

  • Assessments grounded in real workplace tasks, not invented scenarios
  • Industry guest speakers and case studies updated each cycle
  • Continuous curriculum review, with trainer input at the centre
  • Modern curriculum: Xero, MYOB, cloud-first workflows, current BAS rules

Flexibility that works

Most of our trainers are active industry professionals. We design engagement models that fit around real careers — including sessional, part-time and project-based work.

  • Classroom (face-to-face) delivery model
  • Freedom to pick the units where your industry expertise is strongest
  • Remote-friendly for planning, marking and trainer meetings
  • No mandatory evening or weekend classes
